GOTS stands for Global Organic Textile Standard. The GOTS certification shows environmental thinking and social responsibility throughout the chain, from cultivation, preparation and production to finished product.
Summerville is GOTS-certified every year since 2017 and our products carries the GOTS-logo with identification number.
Certified
Our products are certified all the way from the organic cotton growth, through the environmental friendly colouring process, in production and as finished products.
That way you can rest assure that the Summerville products are kind to both babies and our environment. That is something we are very proud of. Truly organic!
Organic growth
The GOTS-label shows that the product is made from organically grown raw material, ie cotton, from certified organic cotton growers who get paid fairly and can live on their salary. Around the organic cotton farm no pesticides are allowed, water quality is protected and soil erosion is prevented.
No chemicals
GOTS has strict limitations for the use of chemicals. When dyeing the products, the colors may not contain any toxins that are harmful to humans or the environment. The GOTS certification shows that the products are completely free of harmful substances and have been so throughout the production chain, all they way to the finished products.
Ethically made
GOTS has rules regarding working environment and social rights for the workers in all stage of production. Workers should be adults ,who can live on their wages and are given development opportunities regardless of gender. With a GOTS-labelled product you know that the product is ethically produced, that workers are paid fairly and work under good working conditions.
Audits
The entire process, from cotton cultivation to production and storage of products, is checked regularly by special certification bodies to ensure that everything is done according to GOTS rules. No deviations may be made if the final product is to be labelled with GOTS.
Kvalitet
The GOTS-label is also a quality stamp. In order for a product to be labelled with GOTS, the product must meet specific quality requirements. For example in terms of colouring fastness, shrinkage and wear. If you buy a genuine GOTS-labelled product, you buy a quality product!
Finally
The end result is organic products of the highest quality that have not been in contact with harmful chemicals and therefore are just as kind to children as they are to the environment. Products that we are proud of and hope you will enjoy.
